Hey! This is Shan Riggs.
Professional picture taker. Occasional chaos coordinator.
A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW
- I own two businesses because apparently one source of stress simply wasn’t enough.
- Diet Coke is basically part of my brand identity at this point.
- I have a love-hate relationship with Lightroom. Some days I could edit for hours. Other days opening it feels like a personal attack.
- I will absolutely tell you what to do with your hands. Nobody knows what to do with their hands.
- If you tell me you’re “not photogenic,” congratulations, you just gave me a challenge.
- I am probably overbooked, over caffeinated, and somehow starting another project I definitely did not need.
- I love the perfectly imperfect stuff way more than stiff, everyone look at me and smile photos.
- If your kid acts wild during your session, I’m not judging you. I’m probably laughing with you. Just let them be. It's fine.
- I will fix your hair, move your necklace, straighten the random strap, and tell you if something looks weird. Friends don’t let friends find out later.
- I am not above making ridiculous noises to get a kid to laugh.
- There is a very good chance I’ll say, “Okay this is going to sound weird, but trust me.”
- I’m a photographer, which means I own more camera gear than any reasonable human needs and will still convince myself I need another lens.
- I love people who show up ready to have fun more than people who show up trying to be perfect.
- And yes, I will probably hype you up like we’ve been friends for ten years.
So basically…
I’m not the photographer who expects you to show up knowing how to pose, where to stand, or how to make your children behave like tiny catalog models.
That’s what you’re hiring me for.
You bring the people you love. I’ll bring the camera, the direction, the bad jokes, and probably a Diet Coke.
- Drink: Diet Coke. Obviously.
- Editing soundtrack: Whatever I’ve decided to obsess over that week.
- Biggest photography pet peeve: “Can you Photoshop me skinny?” 😅
- Favorite photos: The ones between the poses.
- Most-used phrase during a session: “Okay wait, that was actually perfect.”
- Hidden talent: Somehow juggling twelve things at once and pretending that was the plan.
- Weakness: Taking on one more thing because “it’ll be fine.”
- Session philosophy: Relax. I’ll tell you what to do.
- Business philosophy: Make it good. Make it feel like you. Try not to lose my mind in the process.
